A conversation with Evan

Evan accompanied me to Painter's Pottery with McCayla's Brownie troupe this afternoon. He wanted to paint something, so he chose an "E". He sat down and painted it in three seconds. I am not kidding. A $ 6 ceramic E decorated in less time than it took for him to choose it. But here is the conversation we had (mind you, you leave your painted piece on the table where they come around to pick it up and fire it at a later time, and then you return to pick it up a week later).

M: Evan, leave your E on the table.
E: Ok.
2 minutes later
M: Evan, where is your E?
E: Right here (pointing at the shelf where it was originally picked up)
M: Evan, you have to leave your E here for them to get later. Remember when we painted the plates and had to come back to pick them up? Same thing.
E: OK.
5 minutes later
M: Evan, PUT the E DOWN. You are not taking it with you.
E: Why?
M: BECAUSE we have to leave it here and pick it up next Thursday
E: Ok.
Checking out
M, looking down at Evan who is holding his E in his hand: EVAN ... go put that E back on the table and LEAVE it there.
E: Ok... runs off to put it back.
On the way home, E: Hey... where's my E?

OY!
